Full course description
Lithium-ion Battery Technology and Fire Investigations
This course is designed to educate industry professionals on current Lithium-ion battery technology and safety standards. Learn about a broad range of Lithium-ion battery systems, including those associated with portable battery powered consumer products, eMobility, aviation and home and grid storage.
Led by industry expert Dr. Jan Swart, this course will take a methodical approach to discuss Lithium-ion battery investigations. You’ll explore topics such as evidence identification and collection, laboratory and battery inspection, analytical techniques, site and laboratory safety, and evidence storage. NFPA 921 will be reviewed in the context of Lithium-ion batteries. In class, you’ll have the opportunity to tear down and inspect a Lithium-ion battery cell that went into thermal runaway, and to observe damage patterns. Students who pass an exam on the final day of class will receive a non-credit certificate of completion for their new qualification.
This course is not for credit. It does not require the use of Canvas or any online resources; all material will be delivered in person.
Class sessions will be limited to 10 participants; sign up today to secure your seat!
