Social Media & Photography Non-Residential (Day) Camp (Ages 14-18)

June 14th-19th, 2026

Join NAU and the School of Communication for an exciting 5-day Social Media and Photography Camp. This camp is designed for high school students interested in digital media and visual storytelling. This summer camp will teach students the essential skills for creating captivating photos and understanding social media strategies. During this camp, students will learn how to build a strong digital presence. This camp is taught by School of Communication faculty experts Beth Staub and Janice Sweeter.

Throughout the week, students will explore a variety of photography styles, including portrait, adventure, macro, and urban photography. They will also learn how to curate content for different social media platforms, understand the importance of representation in imagery, and practice photo manipulation techniques. The camp will feature hands-on activities, including field trips to capture the essence of campus life, nature, downtown Flagstaff, and local art and culture.

Animation Non-Residential (Day) Camp (Ages 14-18)

June 14th-19th, 2026

Come to NAU to experience the captivating world of stop-frame animation during this 5-day hands-on summer camp. Throughout the week, participants will explore storytelling and stop-motion animation techniques to create their own 30-60 second short film. The camp begins with an introduction to animation history, basic techniques, and flipbook exercises. Over the course of the week, students will learn the art of storytelling and animation using a variety of creative materials. Guided by NAU faculty and animator Austin Frick, students will master stop-frame techniques to bring their short stories to life. During this summer camp, students will animate short films and add music and sound effects to enhance their creations. This summer camp concludes with an animation showcase, where campers and their parents can celebrate their creative achievements.

Sport & Adventure Media Non-Residential (Day) Camp (Ages 14-18)

June 14th-19th, 2026

Are you passionate about sports or outdoor adventure? Come and try sports and adventure journalism this summer at NAU in the Sports & Adventure Media Camp! This hands-on summer camp is perfect for high school students interested in capturing the thrill of action and adventure through photography, videography, and writing. During the five-day camp, students will explore the art of storytelling in sports and adventure media. Guided by NAU faculty and sports journalist Rory Faust, students will participate in field trips to live sports events and local outdoor environments, capturing dynamic photos and videos. They will also learn how to write compelling stories and create highlight reels to showcase their work.

Camp tuition for non-residential (day) camps is $330.00/student.

Refunds

Students may withdraw from a course with a full refund up to one week prior to the course start date. There is a 50% administration fee for withdrawals from one week prior to the course start date until the day the course begins. After the course start date, refunds are no longer available.
